Obviously the same procedure should also be carried out with feed-in profiles, for example to determine not the minimum, but the optimum conductor cross-sections for wiring a photovoltaic installation. The prices guaranteed by the feed-in remuneration are a further incentive to upgrade the conductor cross-sections and are a significant factor in making the best possible selection.

More generally, today – in the age of energy efficiency – a cable can no longer be regarded as “put to best use” if it actually does reach its maximum permissible temperature. The time is gone when instructions, standards, TCCs and other provisions were read like the selection criterion: “How hot should my cable run at least?”
